Takin’ off for Puerto Vallarta

Sunset on the Malecon

Strolling to dinner New Years Eve 2008, I was lucky to get this shot.

Well it’s the day before the next adventure to Puerto Vallarta.  I’m heading down there with my boyfriend Rick to meet up with Ada Colorina, an artist I hope to add to my Travel Gal network.  This is the first time Rick is actually leaving the USA.  I told him when we met that he just had to have a passport to be with me.  And voila!  It took 10 months but he finally has one in hand.  I seriously can not wait to show him Puerto Vallarta.  It’s one of my favorite places in Mexico.  It’s authentic.  Or I should say more authentic than traveling to Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Ixtapa or even Cabo San Lucas.  There’s something about the feel of Puerto Vallarta.  Mountains surround the cobblestone fishing village creating a lush border decorated with colorful flowers.  A celebration explodes from the Malecon each night with fire dancers and street vendors offering up their spicy cups of corn.  I do believe a tequilla tasting is in our future.  🙂  Maybe two.

The views in Puerto Vallarta are breathtaking...Can't wait to get back there with my new Nikon D90

The Scene Walking up to Ada's Studio

As I walked up the stairs to Ada's home, I had no idea what to expect...but I had a feeling it would be a good experience

Ada lives in a tiny village just up the mountain side behind town.    Her house is as colorful as her paintings.   Her paintings tell the stories of her childhood growing up in this remote part of town with no electricity or cars.  Cross your fingers for me.  She will be an amazing addition to the network.  And my plan is to make Puerto Vallarta the first Travel Gal workshop adventure in 2010.  It’s the perfect location as it’s such an amazing art town.  I love strolling through the galleries…and we strategically planned this trip around the start of their “Art Walk” season.  So, you’ll be getting the updates from the streets of Puerto Vallarta this Friday night.

Inside Ada's Studio/Gallery

I was completely taken with Ada's colorful work which popped from the white walls of her gallery space on the second floor
