About

Travel GalThe call came two days before Christmas.  I’d been waiting for months, dying to know what
would happen to the team I’d spent more than 10 years building and nurturing. The
economic crisis had finally knocked on my office door.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe. But we need you to terminate five of your people right after the New Year.”

Don’t worry.  Right.

They continued to lay out the plan for 2009 as my mind drifted away.  It just wasn’t a plan I was interested in being part of.

My moment of change was finally upon me.  I had to make a choice.

So…what did I do in a unprecedented time in our history?  A time most people were praying to keep their jobs.

I resigned.

Leading up to this moment, I’d spent many nights dreaming up my ultimate life/work scenario.  Exotic travels have always been a passion of mine.  I’ve had the great fortune to experience driving through the mountain roads and villages of Andalucia, sailing the Nile on a felucca, hiking to the spiritual vortex that is Machu Picchu and getting jumped on by two Gibraltar apes.  Now,  I find myself sitting here on a terrace in Grand Baie, Mauritius writing this story to share with you.

One thing is always a constant on each adventure I set out to discover.  I desire to acquire original art from local artisans who strive to tell the stories of their culture through their work. Colorful paintings from Puerto Vallarta and wood carved masks from the African island find happy resting places in my home.  Cultural treasures I’ve acquired along the way splash my walls with originality and substance.

Art, Culture and Travel are my passions and have become my calling. It didn’t take long for me to realize that if I was truly going to give my soul’s passion a chance, I’d have to create a business for myself that allowed me to follow my heart and fully experience art, culture and travel everyday.

Travel Gal Productions Inc. was officially incorporated in February 2009.

I’m Tanya Braidman.  And I am the Travel Gal.
